DETAILS OF THE ELKHORN FERN
It is an extravagant and striking plan, owing to the slightly hairy leaves that are similar to elk horns. Its appearance is unique! In addition, it is perfect as a hanging plant or to place it on a shelf where the aesthetic qualities will be highlighted. Do you dare to place some "horns" in your home?
Platycerium has its origin in the Greek words "platys" = flat and "keras" = horn, because of the resemblance to some animals antlers. This fern from the Polipodiaceae family is native to southern China, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, America and Africa. The Elk Horn has 2 types of leaves: the horizontal and wide ones that allow it to cling to the branches where it lives (it is an epiphytic plant) and those that hang vertically and resemble the elk's horns, they can reach a meter of lenght.
Common names: Staghorn fern, Platicerio, Elk Horn fern or Deer Horn fern.
Scientific name: Platycerium.
