POTHO, A GREAT FRIEND FROM HOME

Posted By: Anna Garcia

Pothos is one of the most popular plants in Spanish homes, perhaps it has earned this popularity not only for being a plant with purifying qualities but, above all, for the elegance that marks its leaves and its ornamental qualities. A perfect plant for those who are not very skilled with gardening but also for those who want to enjoy an undemanding plant in their home. A very easy to care for, fast growing and multiplying plant. An icon of the Mediterranean houses!

.

In addition, the Pothos is, depending on the variety, capable of growing vertically (as a climber) but also downwards (in a hanging way). A plant that allows us to play with its appearance as part of the decoration of our house.

POTHOS CARE

Inside plants.

Ideal temperature: between 16 and 21 ºC.

Light: they need to be in bright spaces and filtered light, for example through a curtain. Do not expose to direct sun. The Pothos thrives in indirect light all year long, direct sunlight will burn its leaves, while low light will turn the leaves pale green.

Irrigation: 1 irrigation / week. Once the substrate is dry. In case we abuse the water, the Pothos will warn us by yellowing its typical green leaves.

Nutrients: follow directions for CitySens nutrients. Fertilize every month in the growth period and every three months in the resting period.

Substrate: it is important that the substrate in which it grows is as complete as possible.

Ambient humidity: high level of ambient humidity.

Pothos are slightly toxic to pets. Ingestion can cause stomach irritation and possible vomiting.

Potho Pictus

The Potho Pictus or silver pothos (Scindapsus pictus) is unique for its thick velvety leaves and its unique silver spots. Yes, yes silver!

It comes from hot and humid places: specifically from the tropical jungles of Southeast Asia. There they are happy climbing the trunks of the trees. However, in colder climates such as the Mediterranean, they must be grown indoors.

It is a captivating vine… a true delight as a decorative indoor plant. It stores water inside, so it can withstand heat and drought very well. A unique species that is very grateful and also air purifier. Another very important factor is that she is a warrior. It is able to withstand large amounts of light, always indirect, as well as thrive in low light conditions.

The Potho Pictus is one of the most desired and difficult to find. There is no other plant like it, SPECTACULAR!
